AMD Ryzen its true its fast!
As you may have seen on our YouTube and Facebook pages we have been heavily testing and building on the AMD Ryzen platform. This has given us a valuable insight in to what AMD has achieved, its been a wait but its been worth it.
Ryzen 7 Testing
There has been a lot of buzz about the new AMD Ryzen processors that offers the same quality of Intel processors at a lower price. The processors have been out for a month and everyone has their own point of view of how they run for work and gaming.
At Zi-Clone we try to make sure that you are aware of the features of the components in your computer and processors are no exception. We have tested the AMD processors using the CineBench test and put them up against the Intel i7. Here are the results:
Processor | Clock Speed | CineBench score |
AMD 1700X | 3.4GHz | 1525 |
AMD 1800X | 3.6GHz | 1627 |
AMD 1800X | 4.0 GHz (overclocked) | 1762 |
Intel i7 7700k | 4.2GHz | 955 |
Intel i7 6700k | 4.7GHz (overclocked) | 955 |
As you can see the Ryzen processors were a lot faster than Intel and were running at a lower clock speed. This will allow you to game or encode in higher quality and with quicker times. All this at a more efficient clock speed and with future BIOS and firmware updates it will only get better.
The Ryzen 5 is due to come out on April 11th 2017. Also Ryzen 3 processors will be available soon after allowing for PCs at different budgets.
From our testing we have a few motherboards we recommend for your Ryzen PC:
- Gigabyte AB350 Gaming
- Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3
- Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 5
- Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K7
- ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero
We are looking forward to the Ryzen 5 and hopefully the wait wont be too long.
